On media questions about the lifting of ECQ and the return to work of many workers in NCR tomorrow and government’s confidence that NCR is now ready to gradually return to normal (or start the “new normal”)

“Sadly the Administration’s response thus far (over three months into the pandemic), the continued rise in COVID cases, the absence of mass testing, and the allegations of corruption and overpricing altogether do not inspire confidence.

The growing public sentiment amidst the conflicting and confusing public pronouncements is that we have been left to fend for ourselves.

Para tayong isang bangka na lulutang-lutang sa laot na patay ang motor at walang patutunghuhan. Dinadala na lang kung saan dalhin ng agos ng alon. Habang kinakalas ng mga kawatan ang motor ng bangka.

Kaya ang mensahe ko sa mga kababayan nating kailangang lumabas na ng mga tahanan at pumasok sa trabaho (kung meron pa), idoble o itriple pa ang pag-iingat. Magmask at mag-face shield. Maghugas ng kamay. Kumain nang masustansya. Matulog nang walong oras.

Kung sa pakiramdam natin na walang pakialam sa ating kalusugan ang mga namumuno, panghawakan na natin at magtulong-tulong tayo.”
