Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, who on Tuesday was one of the 20 senators that voted for the historic conviction of impeached Chief Justice Renato C. Corona, welcomed on Thursday night the defense panel’s decision to no longer appeal the verdict of the impeachment court.

“This decision by the defense panel to respect the verdict is a welcome step,” Pangilinan said. “It upholds the supremacy of the Constitution. It shows that our Constitution reigns, and rightly so!”

The defense panel announced on Thursday the decision to no longer challenge the impeachment court’s verdict before the Supreme Court.
