KIKO PANGILINAN ASSAILS ‘NEVER SAY DIE CHACHA EXPRESS’

Independent senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan expressed his frustration over the House of Representatives’ persistence in pushing for Charter Change. “Why are they so insistent on pushing for a patently illegal House-only con-ass? Why are they pushing the nation towards a constitutional crisis? What is so urgent about Cha-cha that it has to be pushed less than a year before the start of a national election? Those pushing for Cha-cha at this time are placing personal, selfish interests over and above the welfare of the nation and our people,” said Pangilinan.

Pangilinan also warned Cha-cha proponents of stirring public’s outrage, as surveys show that Filipinos are against Charter Change.

“Those pushing for an illegal Cha-cha, it appears, are willing to do anything fair or foul to achieve their self-serving goals. This is a deed most foul that must be vigorously opposed by all decent citizens of this country. As public officials we are called upon to act in accordance with the Constitution and not in total and reckless disregard of it. Pambabastos na sa ating mga batas ang ginagawang pagtatalakay sa Cha-cha ngayon. “
