Former senator and senatorial candidate Kiko Pangilinan hopes that the Holy Week will be a time for candidates to reflect on serving the Filipino people and finding solutions for many of the problems that plague the country.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of his campaign in Pangasinan province, the former senator spoke of his plans to focus on his platform of food security and lower prices of food in the last 27 days until Election Day.
My prayer is to find solutions to the country’s problem, that leaders will address these instead of the endless bickering and fighting),” he said.
With less than a month before the May 12, 2025 polls, Pangilinan maintained that his focus is finding solutions to hunger.
“Ang gulo-gulo ng bansa. Let’s focus on solutions. Let’s focus on addressing hunger. Kaya nga walang kulay dapat ang gutom. Walang kulay talaga ang gutom,” he said.
He lamented the political infighting, calling instead for candidates to come together and help the country.
The former senator has been a subject of disinformation and trolling on social media due to his viral food blog where he was shown eating rice and carabao milk on a pot cover.
But although he had called out those behind the smear campaign and asked the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to look into deactivating or suspending the troll accounts until Election Day, he vowed to continue pouring all his efforts in bringing his campaign message of food security and lower prices of food to the voters.
