KIKO WILL SUPPORT CONCON IF…
“It should have a timetable of six months and PGMA steps down in 2010”
Independent senator Kiko Pangilinan today set the terms that will make him amenable to Charter Change. “I will support a Constitutional Convention mode but with a timetable of not later than six months for it to complete its task. A lengthy open-ended process that leads to prolonged political uncertainty will adversely affect our competitiveness as a nation,” Kiko said.
“The open-ended ConCon experience in 1970 wherein the debates lasted nearly 3 years if replicated will create too great an uncertainty that will definitely hurt the economy. A ConCon with a clear timetable of six to nine months for the completion of the work is ideal, and only after PGMA steps down in 2010,” Kiko ended.###
