The cooperative sector will get additional support from the government through this law, which mandates the creation of a Cooperatives Development Officer (CDO) as a mandatory position in all local government units.

The CDO will provide on-the-ground support to the cooperative sector and help harmonize its goal with the national cooperative movement and other government agencies.
