KIKO TAKES OATH AS SENATE ELECTORAL TRIBUNAL MEMBER

Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan has officially taken his oath as a member of the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET), the constitutional body tasked with resolving election contests involving members of the Senate.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, September 24, with Senior Associate Justice Marivic Leonen administering the oath.

This marks the third time the senator has served as part of the nine-member tribunal, which plays a crucial role in maintaining public trust in the country’s electoral system by adjudicating electoral protests filed against duly proclaimed senators.

He served as SET member from July 1, 2001 to June 30, 2004 and again, from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2013.

A veteran legislator and now in his fourth term in the Senate, Pangilinan brings to the SET decades of experience in lawmaking, public service, and advocacy for democratic institutions.

His oath-taking ceremony was attended by Leonen, Hon. Justice Henri Jean Paul Inting, Hon. Justice Ramon Paul Hernando, Atty. Eleanor Anuncacion, Atty. Luis Jose Geronimo, and other SET members Senators Pia Cayetano, Alan Peter Cayetano, Robinhood Padilla (incumbent member), and JV Ejercito (outgoing member).
