Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala (right) and Senator Francis Pangilinan, chairman of the Senate committee on agriculture and food, appreciate a ‘sea of squash’ being sold at the Sentrong Pamilihan ng Produktong Agrikultura ng Quezon, in Sariaya, which has become a major vegetable trading center in Southern Luzon since it was built in 2006 by Sec. Alcala, when we was a still a Representative of the 2nd District of Quezon. The trading post recently put up a vegetable processing facility that produces noodles fortified with squash and malunggay, and vacuum-packed vegetables that will form part of the ‘food relief basket’ distributed to disaster-affected families by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
