Educating Filipinos Through New Media

Senator Kiko Pangilinan has partnered with the ABS-CBN Foundation and the Department of Education in providing quality-learning materials for public elementary students nationwide through the Educational Television or “ETV” Project. The ETV Project aims to upgrade educational infrastructure in public schools through the effective utilization of Multimedia-Assisted Instructional materials. Among these materials are top international award-winning shows Hirayamanawari (Values Education), MathTinik (Math), Bayani (Philippine History), Apple/Epol (Language and Reading) and Sineskwela (Science).

Sen. Kiko’s partnership with ABS-CBN Foundation and the Department of Education will provide learning alternatives that serve as excellent and effective supplements to subject matters covered by the Basic Education Curriculum. The ETV Package consists of 108 volumes of ETV shows in DVD format, a 21” colored TV, and a DVD player.

To date, 11 million pesos have been allocated to 191 public elementary schools nationwide for the hardware being distributed and for the teacher training on the proper use of the educational television infrastructure package produced by ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc.  Sen. Kiko is optimistic that with this partnership with ABS-CBN and DepEd, we can help solve the lack of educational infrastructure and learning materials that plagues our public schools.
