The LP in its 64th anniversary announced the designation of Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan as the Liberal Party’s Senate slate campaign manager, tasked to oversee the efforts in getting the slate election in this year’s national elections.

LP standard bearer Noynoy Aquino says Pangilinan’s “brand of new politics and his reform advocacy, plus his successful campaign runs in 2001 and 2007, are precisely what we need to bring the campaign to a new level.”

In this introduction, LP’s VP bet, Senator Mar Roxas, expresses full confidence in Pangilinan’s ability to successfully run a national campaign, citing his unprecedented victory in running as an independent senatorial candidate in 2007.

Butch Abad, the Liberal Party’s overall campaign manager, shares the same sentiment. “Having twice run successfully as a senator, the last time as an independent and deeply committed to a new brand of politics, Senator Kiko Pangilinan has the understanding, wisdom, and competence to manage the highly qualified and principled LP Senate slate,” he says.

“If the people believe in senators Noynoy and Mar, we ask them to support their choices for the Senate,” says Pangilinan. “For Noynoy to be able to govern should he win, he must have allies in the upper chamber. And if they want Noynoy to succeed in moving the country forward, they should support his choices for the Senate.”

“We thank Senator Pangilinan for taking on the major responsibility of managing the campaign for the LP Senate slate,” adds Aquino. “With two successful campaign runs in 2001 and 2007, he brings with him the needed national campaign experience to run a people-driven campaign. I urge our people to support the entire Senate slate. Should we win come May, they will be instrumental in helping us effect genuine change for our nation.”

The LP senatoriables, using the mnemonic SLAMAT LORRRD, are Sonia Roco, Danny Lim, Neric Acosta, Martin Bautista, Alex Lacson, TG Guingona; Yasmin Busran-Lao, guest candidate Serge Osmena, Ruffy Biazon, Ralph Recto, Risa Hontiveros, and Frank Drilon.
