Returning Senator Kiko Pangilinan took his oath of office before Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno on Monday, 27 June 2016 at the Dignitaries’ Lounge, Supreme Court of the Philippines.

He was accompanied by his mother, Emma Nepomuceno Pangilinan, wife Sharon Cuneta, and children KC, Frankie, Miel, and Miguel.

Now on his third term, Senator Pangilinan vows to take the plight of the farmers and fisherfolk center stage. One of his priority pieces of legislation is the Farmer and Fisherfolk Enterprise Development and Management Act, or the Sagip Saka Act of 2016 which seeks to help farmers move away from subsistence farming into viable farm enterprises.

Senator Pangilinan also aims to promote the creation of a Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources to pave way for modernizing fishing through eco-friendly technologies, post-harvest processing, storage facilities, and training.

After the Senate failed to pass the Coco Levy Trust Fund Bill, Senator Pangilinan also plans to refile the bill in the next Congress. The Senator helped craft the measure during his term as Presidential Assistant for Food Security and Agricultural Modernization.

He was proclaimed Senator last 19 May 2016.
