Non-supporter reveals why Kiko Pangilinan didn’t get her 2022 vote

April 23, 2025
Call center agent Joie sat down with former senator and senatorial candidate Kiko Pangilinan to reveal the reasons why she chose not to vote for him in the last 2022 national elections and what convinced her to vote differently now.

In the first episode in a series of face-to-face encounters entitled “Walang Kulay ang Solusyon,” the former senator provided a platform for a non-supporter like Joie to raise concerns about her personal struggles, as well as the reason why she decided to vote for another candidate in the 2022 polls.

“Actually, kino-consider ko rin kayo iboto that time. Nasa TikTok, mostly sa supporters nung last elections, marami pong nang-aaway,” she recalled, sharing that once “kakampinks” knew that she was voting for President Marcos, they would call her names.

Pangilinan nodded in agreement, “Kung ‘di ka inaway, baka nakuha ko ang boto mo… Para makumbinsi ka, hindi dapat mang-aaaway.”

Discouraged by the toxicity on social media, Joie said she eventually decided to vote for Vice President Sara Duterte so there would be unity between the country’s two highest officials.

This time, though, Joie said it was nice to see the former senator turning away from the political bickering and infighting.

“Ngayong eleksyon po, iyon po ang maganda na hindi po kayo nakikisali sa issues ng dalawang partido,” she told Pangilinan.

A solo parent, Joie also asked the former senator about the benefits she should be receiving under the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act.

“Malapit sa aking puso ang mga single parent dahil nakita ko na hindi biro. Ikaw ay tumatayong ama, tumatayong ina,” he said, sharing that wife Sharon Cuneta-Pangilinan was a single parent when he first started to pursue her.

Noting that solo parents must receive financial assistance from the national and local governments, Pangilinan lamented that a lot of laws could not be implemented because of the lack of budget.

“Hindi ito dahilan para hindi mabigyan ng suporta at alalay ang ating single parents. May pananagutan ang barangay, ang LGU,” he added.

The series of interviews featuring Pangilinan and five voters with different political leanings is scheduled to run from Tuesday, April 22, to Saturday, April 26.

Of the five voters, two voted for him, two did not vote for him, and one is a first-time voter this coming election.

Through these conversations, the former senator said he hopes to reach out to the people, especially those who have yet to learn about his advocacies.

Episode 1 of “Walang Kulay ang Solusyon” premiered on Tuesday, April 22, on Pangilinan’s official social media pages.
