Senator Francis “Kiko’’ Pangilinan has expressed confidence that in the next two or three weeks he might get 13 votes, magic number that would ensure his election as the Senate President when the 15th Congress opens on July 26.

Pangilinan gave this assessment after witnessing Senator-elect Jose “Jinggoy’’ Estrada take his oath of office before Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile at the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) headquarters on Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City last Thursday night.

At the oath-taking ceremony were Vice President-elect Jejomar Binay and Estrada’s father, former President Joseph Estrada and his mother former Sen. Luisa Estrada, Senator-elect Sergio Osmeña III, former Senate President Ernesto Maceda and former Sen. Franciso Tatad.

Both Pangilinan and young Estrada denied that Kris, the sister of President-elect Benigno Simeon ‘’Noynoy’’ Aquino III, called them up individually, allegedly meddling with the Senate presidency issue. (Mario Casayuran)
