MANILA, Philippines—A reformed and progressive nation under the Aquino administration was senators’ wish for the country in 2011.

“I pray for a great year renewal, transformation and reform,” Senate Minority Leader Alan Cayetano said in a text message on Thursday.

“May the President and his whole family be successful and find happiness in every aspect of their life and work,” he added.

Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, an administration ally, hopes that the President would be able to inspire the Filipinos to act, “and by doing so unleash our collective capacity to undo the wrongs of the past and bring real change for our nation.”

“We are an extremely talented, hardworking and creative people. We have proven resiliency and tenacity to endure hardships for the sake of our families and loved ones. With President Aquino inspiring our people to give their all for family and country there is no way for us to fail,” Pangilinan said in a separate text message.

“Under his leadership together with those who will continue with the work he has begun, we look forward to that dream of a progressive and prosperous nation realized in our lifetime,” he said.
