Tiyak na sisibol ang mga mauunlad na siyudad sa Mindanao at iba pang bahagi ng bansa kapag natapos na ang bakbakan ng militar at mga rebelde.
Sinabi ni Sen. Francis ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan na noong naplantsa ng pamahalaan ang peace accord sa Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) noong 1996, umunlad ang General Santos City, Cagayan de Oro City at Davao City.
“These cities emerged because of a window of opportunity created by a peace accord with the MILF in 1996. Prior to that, these cities were underdeveloped,” ani Pangilinan.
“If we are to pursue aggressively peace negotiations and entice the private sector to invest, we will soon see the emergence of more progressive cities like Marbel, Iligan, Cotabato and Zamboanga, as well as those in Samar and Bicol region where incidence of poverty remain high,” dagdag ng senador.
Ipinairal ng Aquino administration ang 18-araw na ceasefire sa mga armadong rebelde ngayong Kapaskuhan.
