Kapag nangako ng pagbabago, dapat yung haba o tagal ng pila sa MRT, umiikli, hindi lalo pang humahaba o tumatagal. At ang pinaka-una, dapat ligtas ang mga sumasakay, hindi napuputulan ng braso o napuputol ang mga magkakabit na bagon.
Kapag nililihis ang pagtitiis ng mga sumasakay sa mga araw-araw na kalbaryo para makapasok sa trabaho o eskwelahan o makauwi sa tahanan, hindi na lang ito kawalang respeto o pambabastos, ito ay panloloko.
Kapag kinumpara natin ang kasong plunder na sinampa sa 9 na secretaries sa Gabinete ng dating Pangulong Aquino at 3 undersecretaries, parang may pinagtatakpan. Ito ba ay kapabayaan o kawalan ng kakayahan?
Ikumpara ang pag-uusig na ito sa mga pagpaparaya sa ilang kaso ng mga kakampi:
- ni Supt. Marvin Marcos sa kasong murder, na bukod pa sa binalik sa katungkulan ay tinaas pa ang rangko;
- nina BID Deputy Commissioners Al Argosino at Michael Robles sa kasong pangingikil ng halos P50 milyon; at
- nina BOC officials Gerardo Gambala at Milo Maestrecampo na napuslitan na ng P6.4-bilyong halaga ng shabu pero nilipat lang sa ibang pwesto bagamat hindi pa sila pinapawalang-sala sa kanilang pagkakasangkot.
Kapag kritiko, iniipit; kapag kakampi, pinapalusot.
Bagamat ganito ang mga nangyayari, inaasahan natin na magiging patas at magbibigay ng katarungang parehas ang Ombudsman. Kumpyansa tayo na maipagtatanggol ng mga inaakusahang dating secretary ang kanilang sarili, at mapapawalang-sala sila.
When change is promised, the line and the wait at the MRT should be shorter, not longer. And the primary consideration should be that commuters are safe, not having their arms cut off or the coaches decoupled.
When the issue is shifted from the quiet, everyday suffering of commuters who only want to get to work or school or home, it is not simply disrespectful, it is deception.
When we compare this to the plunder case filed against 9 Cabinet secretaries of former President Aquino and 3 undersecretaries, there seems to be a cover-up. Is this negligence or incompetence?
Let’s compare this case to the following cases involving allies:
- the murder case of Supt. Marvin Marcos, who was not only reinstated but even promoted;
- the extortion case of BID Deputy Commissioners Al Argosino and Michael Robles involving almost P50 million; and
- the P64-billion shabu smuggling case involving BOC officials Gerardo Gambala and Milo Maestrecampo, who were only transferred to other government agencies even if they have not yet been cleared.
Critics are silenced, allies go scot-free.
Despite all these, we trust that the Ombudsman will be fair and render impartial justice. We are confident that the former secretaries accused of wrongdoing will be able to defend and exonerate themselves.
